offering 1 1/2 hours of snorkeling time. (Fridays we return at 5:00
PM.) On the scenic coastal cruise to Kealakekua Bay keep your eye
out for spinner dolphins, they often come by the boat to entertain
the passengers.
You'll want to eat lunch before this sail since it's not
provided. Our friendly staff can suggest a restaurant if requested.
A snack of tropical fruit and Kona potato chips are served on the
cruise back to Keauhou Bay.
Kealakekua Bay is a Marine Life Conservation District. It
started out as a crater. That is why it gets deeper faster than
many other sites. Once moored at Kealakekua, the stern of the
vessel is in water of 10'-12' depths and while snorkeling you will
see many tropical reef fish families such as the wrasse, butterfly
fish, surgeons, parrot fish, and trigger fish, which is the family
our state fish the Humuhumu-nukunuku-a-pua'a belongs to. The divers
may also see some of the deeper fish like the 'ulua. Kealakekua Bay
has a spectacular reef slope, from a 30' reef flat to 100' sand
flats. "Fields" of finger and plate coral provide food and shelter
for a wide array of reef fish, some of which are difficult to find
anywhere else on the Island.

Every cruise has a video-grapher on board who makes a special 45
minute video of each days trip. These are made available for your
purchase and make an excellent addition to your memorabilia
collection.
